My boy is 10.  He is having a slumber party with his buddies.  That have agreed that, as a group, they will stay up until 4am.  In fact, my son set up his alarm clock to go off at precisely 3:15, so as to give the illusion that they have been up all night.  Of course, as soon as they are asleep, I’m going to get that clock.

I’m tired.  Do I go to bed?  Do I stay awake in case of emergency?  One of the kids, who is 9 years old, has never had a babysitter his whole life.  So, his mother entrusts him to ME.  The pressure is killing me.

Rock on, boys.  This Mom is heading for bed.

  1. Lol! Once Whatsit Lad started slumber partying, he never wanted to stop. He and his buddies find great comfort in hanging out all the time.

The staying up late will lose its appeal after a couple tries. Once they become teens, however, their internal clocks keep ’em up all night anyway, slumber party or no slumber party. I’ve tried to take that clock away, but to no avail.

Trust me, you’ll eventually figure out how to sleep through their all-night bonding.

  2. Thats hilarious Ms. Whatsit! I finally had to shut it down at 2am, since things were flying, boys were loud and Mom was getting a tad…um, cranky. 🙂

  3. Oh that alarm clock would have been SO gone and I would say he slept through it! That’s good parenting!
